VI. I interviewed two individuals to see what their response would be to my (our) plan. Their responses are as follow:
I interviewed my mother and father to see what their individual responses would be on the issue of smoking in the workplace and smoking in restaurants. My father was completely opposed of the idea of smoking in the work place for a few reasons. First he feels that smoking creates an "unfair work environment" for non-smokers because they don't want to be affected by second hand smoke. He also feels that there is a different relationship between smokers and non-smokers because smokers get many breaks to go out and smoke and my father feels that it is an unfair work practice. When it came to restaurant smoking he didn't mind it as much. As long as the restaurant provides proper ventilation and separates the two sections of the restaurant then smoking inside is okay. He also believes that restaurant entrances should not have a distance for smokers to stand the restaurants should provide an alternate area for them. My mother also believed that smoking in the work place should be completely banished. She thought that smoking affects too many people outside the smoker. Everyone is negatively affected and she didn't believe that any benefit comes from smoking. When it came to restaurants she believed that smoking inside would be okay as long as people smoked in their restricted areas. She also believed that restaurants would have have to meet all the requirements to allow smoking inside.

VII. My (our) answer, based on our research, to their objections and concerns are
To provide for the problems brought up by both my parents I would completely abolish smoking in the workplace. They don't believe workplace smoking is good at all and if the smokers are not even allowed to smoke during work then man problems cannot arise. Non-smokers will not be affected by the second hand smoke released into the air. Working would also be more fair for employees not giving smokers more breaks than non-smokers. Restaurants would also be required to have a certain area to allow smokers to have their time to smoke. They would also be required to have proper disposal for the ends of cigarettes. For inside, restaurants would need a proper ventilation system installed to allow proper ventilation. Providing a wall would also be necessary for the restaurant to provide. It would have to be at least 6 feet high to block some smoke. The smoking area and non-smoking area should be completely separate.
